September 2017: iOS11 Update

Unfortunately the final release of Apples iOS11 does not work with the iPortal and we are advising people not to upgrade their devices.

We had tested this in early versions of iOS11 beta releases but the full release does not allow Assistive Touch to start and while the voice over connects our engineers have said its ‘jumpy’.

As communicated last year, we will no longer be investing in iPortal but we will enter the above information into the Apple Bug Reporter notifying them of the problem. It is unknown how long this process will take.

In the meantime we recommend you do not update your devices to iOS11

August 2015: iOS8 and iPortal 2 Update

iPortal 2: With the release of Apple's iOS8.4, we have found it has resolved the previously identified issue with Assistive Touch where the screen rotation, cursor movement and pop-up menu did not orientate in the same direction. In addition with the release of iOS8.4, we have seen an improvement in the Bluetooth connectivity between iPhones and iPads with iPortal 2.

We are therefore pleased to advise users, of iPortal 2, that we believe it is now OK to update your iOS operating system to the latest version iOS8.4.

We expect these changes to be carried forward by Apple into iOS9 due for release in September. However as per previous recommendations, check here before upgrading.

28th April 2015: iOS 8.2 and later versions

With subsequent versions of Apple’s iOS we have found the issue with the use of iPortal and Assistive Touch has persisted.  Hence we are still asking users of iPortal to not update their iPhone, iPad or iPod to iOS 8.2 or later iOS versions until we have resolved this issue.

We will notify users via our website once it is appropriate to update.

17 March 2015: iOS 8.2

Apple have just released iOS8.2 for iPhones, iPads and iPods.  With this release we have identified an issue with the use of iPortal and Assistive Touch.  If you are an iPortal user we recommend you defer updating your iPhone, iPad or iPod to iOS 8.2 until we have completed investigating this issue.

We will notify users via our website once it is appriopriate to update to iOS 8.2.

We have tested iPortal 2 with iOS8 and have found no issues. Therefore if you want to upgrade your iPhone, iPad or iPod to iOS8 you can.

September 2014: iOS 8 UPDATE

We are expecting the release of Apple's latest operating system, iOS 8 for iPhones, iPads and iPods, this week. If you are an iPortal user, we recommend you defer updating your iPhone, iPad or iPod to iOS 8 until we have completed testing iOS 8 with iPortal.

Once we have completed testing we will notify iPortal users via this updates page.
